Conservatives Back Nick Popaditch for Congress

From San Diego an area not unfamiliar with Marines, being the home of one of the largest Marine Camps in the US, Camp Pendelton a decorated Marine from the Iraq war steps up as the next Conservative Republican Candidate for Congress.

Perhaps you recall his picture with the fallen statue of Sadam in the background smoking a cigar in celebration of the completion of the mission.

Nick Popaditch announced Tuesday that he is seeking the Republican nomination to unseat Democrat Bob Filner.
I love my country. I spent the majority of my adult life in her service in the United States Marine Corps until I was wounded in action and medically retired. I've seen the greatness of freedom experienced for the first time by people who've never known it, and gained a greater appreciation for our own liberties. My freedom was bought and paid for by our Founding Fathers and again by my father's generation. The chain of custody has been handed down to me and my generation to secure our liberties for our children and for theirs.

Since returning home, I've seen our liberties under assault and our children's future being sold away by an expanding government that limits individual freedom and responsibility. Our Founders knew that the larger the government, the smaller the individual. Irresponsible spending, intrusive regulations, and a growing deficit are crippling our children's future. Indecision in the face of our enemies, who seek to destroy our way of life, and a lack of resolve in securing our borders, weakens us as a nation. This is not the country I will leave to my children.

Incumbent Bob Filner of the California 51st District is a Liberal Democrat and long time member of the Democratic Socialist Party of America.

In Searching the voter roll call I find no instance where Bob has voted in opposition of his Liberal friends.

Bob plans to tackle budget and deficit issues by capping executive salaries.

He voted in favor of Pelosi Health Care Bill.

In favor of the Stimulus Bill, Congressman Bob Filner has voted to invest in improvements in the education, housing and health care of the American people. The Labor, Health and Education Appropriations Act, H.R. 3293, builds on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to provide short-term relief to struggling American families by shoring up our social safety net programs, and long-term solutions to help grow our economy and build up the workforce of the future.

Congressman Filner Wants Iranian Opposition Group Taken Off Watch List

San Diego Congressman Bob Filner wants an Iranian opposition group to be taken off the U.S. list of terror organizations. Jodi Breisler reports from Capitol Hill.

The People's Mujahdeen of Iran is dedicated to the overthrow of the Iranian government. They've been banned by the State Department for over ten years. Filner says it's time to take them off the list.

Filner: I'm convinced they have a pro-democratic, secular, non-nuclear answer for the people of Iran. That fits in with what we want so why are we not helping them or at least not stopping them from achieving their objectives?

Being on the list means the group cannot receive financial support from Americans including San Diego's Iranian community. Although the group was considered violent, Filner says they have disarmed. Their status will be reviewed by the State Department in October.

Congressman Filner Supports the DREAM Act

Congressman Bob Filner proudly announces his co-sponsorship of the American DREAM Act, H.R. 1751. This bi-partisan bill would facilitate access to post-secondary educational opportunities for immigrant students in the United States who currently face barriers in pursuing college educations.

Filner Says, "Don’t Build the Wall"

Congressman Bob Filner recently toured border check points and current construction, and encouraged President Bush, President Elect Obama, and his colleagues in Congress to "Save Friendship Park" by stopping construction of the border wall.
