I'll buy that for a Dollar

Congress, the Senate and the President have required leadership from AIG, GM, and Chrysler take a salary of $1 per year until those companies are solvent again. At AIG even 2nd and 3rd level directors were required to take a $1 per year in lieu of salary. I don't disagree with this, which was actually first done voluntarily by Lee Iacocca when he was trying to fix Chrysler as the CEO, but I think the people in our government should also set that example.

I'd like to see every member of congress, senate, the president and his administrators, secretaries take $1 a year salary until the US is not bleeding deficit spending. Until the people of the US are satisfied with the job they are doing and the country is once again in the black no one in a an elected or appointed position should earn a salary. If the people on the Hill really believe this spending plan, amnesty plan, health care plan is going to work and things will just be peachy again, set the example that Lee set. Show your faith.

"The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it comes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism - ownership of government by an individual, by a group." FDR

  1. A message for the do-nothing congress. Do something and do it better.
