Tea for 2 Million

Of course many things are just not what they seem, the Tax Day Tea Party would seem to fall into that category.
We knew the media would reluctantly cover the tea parties especially since the day before there was nary a mention outside of those posted by participants about the events. The silence was deafening from the so-called major news sources. Of course today the stories distort the intent of the people by reporting the events and the people attending derisively.
The Tea Parties didn't exactly get fair journalistic coverage, but then again that seems to be a reserved treatment only for one party and one selective group of people's ideals.
Deceitful headlines called the protests GOP or FOX sponsored events, ignoring the true definition of grassroots movements and one even declared; "it's just angry rich people" I'm sure they would have added white in there if they could get away with it completely ignoring the fact that there was a mixed race attendance even speakers and MC's, but how would they know since few if any of the News crews showed up. I did see a team from NBC speaking to people who were not involved in the protest but merely sightseeing along the outskirts. Funny when I got home and watched that news show those were the only interviews filmed. The reporter managed to speak to 3 people who were just there as a bystander and not one of the over 5000 participants in the protest. There's some ethical reporting NBC hats off.
Most of the locations exceeded expectation of both crowd sizes and enthusiasm for the events. With a planned 750 locations most locations were reporting in excess of 4000 attendees. Areas such as Chattanooga TN reported as many as 10,000. A conservative estimate (pardon the pun) would easily calculate to over 2 million attendees, yet there are still websites being referenced that show much less attendance. Dare I ask... how would they know? I'm sure we will see some real numbers from www.taxdayteaparty.com once they get everything tallied. Keep in mind we are just now getting the MN Senate results in from last November, these things take time.
Of course there seem to be a group of childish rantings referencing crude sexual innuendo jokes, and the portraying the protesters as angry and stupid; a sure sign that we have gotten to them. Success is sweet and there will be more to come.
We have their attention, no matter how much they try to pretend we don't.

America felt like America again, I think we found some hope perhaps we can bring about that Change we all want so bad. I was glad and proud to be a part of it.

James Wolcott - Apparently he won’t take protests seriously unless there’s violence.
